Embedded Software & Electronics Engineer

We require an experienced, hands-on electronics engineer with a strong background in PCB design, embedded software development, analogue and digital electronics. You must have a hands-on attitude with a track record of turning around fast paced prototypes as well as complete designs ready for manufacture.

You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of electronics, mechanical, aerospace engineers as well as technicians and flight teams to develop aircraft/payload components and deliver improvements on our production line.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce prototype electronic PCBs as proof of concepts or first pass design.
  • Design and write maintainable code for embedded systems.
  • Lead the testing of new hardware and document results.
  • Develop mature designs fit for flight testing and manufacture.
  • Collaborate with other departments to de-conflict integration issues.
  • Adhere to industry and internal design standards.
  • Interface with external companies for the manufacture of parts.
  • Instruct technicians on the manufacture and assembly of parts.
  • Work with the production manager to ensure prototypes are transferred smoothly into production.
  • Development of production/test apparatus to speed up company processes.
  • Lead fault finding for electrical and embedded system components.
  • Collate suggestions for improvement in each product line or individual component that can be fed into design updates.
  • When required, support flight testing and demonstrations in the UK and overseas.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering or similar
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Essential

  • Good broad electronics knowledge, including digital communications, analogue, PSUs, batteries and embedded system design.
  • 4 layer PCB design and manufacture.
  • Programming with STM32 or similar.
  • Design of data interfaces
  • Ability to take projects from initial specification through to testing and production.
  • Proficient in C and C++.

Desirable

  • Proficient in Python
  • Working knowledge of control systems (PID control)
  • Project management experience (maintaining a project plan, budget and reporting to management)
  • General knowledge of aviation
  • Experience with unmanned/manned aircraft tests

Electronics & Electrical Engineer

We require a experienced engineer with a degree in electronics or a related subject. You must have a hands-on attitude and be ready to solve challenges in a fast-paced environment working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Your will be expected to take the lead in projects, have the ability to identify and solve challenges and split time between these projects, supporting the transition of R&D projects into production and projects targeted at increasing production efficiency. You may also get involved in flight team operations when your work may be tested in flight.

Systems Engineer

We require an experienced systems engineer to lead the test and trials of aircraft, payload and 3rd party equipment; to evaluate performance and help us to demonstrate capability to our customers. This role will work with customers, the in-house team as well as partner companies in evolving technology spheres.

The ideal candidate will develop a strong understanding of all aspects of Malloy Aeronautics aircraft and systems. In order to accomplish this, you will need to be a multidisciplinary engineer, ready to solve challenges in a fast-paced environment using knowledge in areas including electrical, electronics, mechanical, control systems, aerospace and software engineering.

Junior Electronics Technician

We require a junior technician that can build, wire and test electrical and mechanical systems. You should have previous knowledge and experience with electronics, soldering and mechanical assembly with the ability to maintain high quality control and motivation. Other relevant hands-on experience in different fields with a strong focus on quality standards will be also considered.

We do not expect applicants to be able to walk into this position knowing all our systems and our specific ways of making reliable air vehicles. But we do expect applicants to have proven hand skills, to be quick and to love building complex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical assembly, such as soldering (pcb or wires), crimping and general avionics wiring/assembly
  • Battery assembly, spot welding and handling
  • Make and install wiring looms, circuit boards and other electronic hardware
  • Assemble vehicle frames, motors and other mechanical hardware
  • Test and follow quality assurance procedures
  • Able to multitask and work in a high pressure and task-oriented environment

Requirements
